There is a license restriction that prohibits the use of ANSYS Without the VPN.  In order to use Ansys you must be connected to the VT VPN (please see 4help.vt.edu for information on setting up the VPN).

Licensing Process

Access to the license can be obtained through software sales. See Purchasing Details (on the top right of this page) for more information. The faculty purchasing the package or a designated person from the research group purchasing the software is given administrative rights to the group management tool that manages access to the ANSYS software.

Access to Software

Once your pid is added to a research group, you can access and install ANSYS through Network Software. The ANSYS network share and downloads also include Installation Notes for Windows and Linux operating systems as well as Documentation and Tutorials for ANSYS software.

Description

The Duo security token is used by members of the Virginia Tech community as a second-factor authentication device to gain access to services protected by the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) service in instances when a phone is not a viable second-factor option. The D-100 token allows users to press a button on the device to generate a 6-digit code that can then be entered into the passcode field when logging into a service that requires 2FA.

SimpleHelp acts as a bridge to connect you and your customer, allowing you to control and support their computer. Any department that has an internal IT support staff could benefit from using SimpleHelp.

There is no software to install. The Software Service Center is hosting SimpleHelp on one of our servers and the service is completely web-based.  When your department joins into the agreement you'll be able to choose a unique URL in your vt.edu domain space that we'll register with the Simple-Help server.  For onboarding instructions please see the section below.

Onboarding Procedure

• Submit a ticket to https://software.vt.edu/help that includes the following information.
  • The URL you would like to use (I.E. help.software.vt.edu, but in your domain space)
  • The number of simultaneous connections you would like to remote computers (Simple-Help is licensed based off simulataneous computers rather than the number of technicians or remote machines).
  • The approximate number of remote machines you'll be supporting (this is to ensure there's server capacity to support your area).
• We'll respond to your ticket within 48 hours providing further information unique to your area including the next steps to get your department onboarded.

SimpleHelp acts as a bridge to connect you and your customer, allowing you to control and support their computer. Any department that has an internal IT support staff could benefit from using SimpleHelp.

There is no software to install. ITA is hosting SimpleHelp on one of our servers and the service is completely web-based. You can integrate SimpleHelp into your own website through a dedicated page or through the CMS, for example. When your technicians or customers visit that page with their usual browser they will see the SimpleHelp client embedded, ready to join them into a queue (in the case of customers) or ready to log them on and start helping people (in the case of technicians).
