The Software Service Center provides technology and solutions for faculty, staff, and students, while adapting to the changing needs of our customers and the growth of information technology.

The Network Software Server is provided as a service of IT Procurement and Licensing Solutions for network-based installation of licensed software. All software contained on this site is licensed for use by Virginia Tech students, faculty, or staff only. All other use is illegal and subject to prosecution.

Fall 2020 Changes

In response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, as well as state and federal guidelines, the Software Service Center has made several adjustments to our processes for the Fall 2020 semester:

  • Major specific software will be automatically billed to students prior to the start of Fall classes and students will receive an email when billing is complete with information on how to access their software.
    Students do NOT need to place an order for, or come to our office to purchase, major specific software.
  • Students who need to purchase software that is not included with their major specific software can place an online order, beginning August 17, by following the instructions at
  • The Software Service Center will resume in-person operation on a by-appointment basis beginning on August 17. Requests for appointments can be submitted at
  • Students, faculty, and staff can submit any questions or requests for support at or by email at

Software Information for Incoming Undergraduates

The Incoming Undergraduate Software Information page provides a quick reference for incoming undergraduate students on their software requirements, how to obtain their software, and frequently asked questions about software.

Student Resources:

  • The Student Software list is a comprehensive list of available software for use by Virginia Tech students.
  • The Student Software Bundles page has information on the Undergraduate Software Bundle and major-specific bundles.
  • The Student Required Products page contains a listing of the software that you are required to buy as well as software that you've previously purchased and software that you are eligible to purchase.
  • The Network Software Server provides a listing of software purchases by individual student as well as software currently available for download by students.

COVID-19 Notice

In response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, as well as state and federal guidelines, the Software Service Center has made several adjustments:

  • The Sofware Service Center will NOT be taking walk-ups until further notice. Services can still be reached either online or by email.
  • All students can now place online orders for software, regardless of location, by following the instructions at
  • The Student Software and Departmental Software phones will be forwarded to voicemail, and students, faculty, and staff will be directed to to submit any questions or requests for support.
    NOTE: You can request a call back by including your phone number on the ticket.
