COVID-19 Notice

In response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, as well as state and federal guidelines, the Software Service Center has made several adjustments for the Spring semester:

  • The Sofware Service Center will NOT be taking walk-ups until further notice. Services can still be reached either online or by email.
  • All students can now place online orders for software, regardless of location, by following the instructions at
  • The Student Software and Departmental Software phones will be forwarded to voicemail, and students, faculty, and staff will be directed to to submit any questions or requests for support.
    NOTE: You can request a call back by including your phone number on the ticket.

Software Requirement for Incoming Undergraduates

All incoming undergraduate students are REQUIRED to purchase a Microsoft Campus Agreement (CA) Software Bundle. This requirement ensures that all undergraduate students have access to the latest versions of Office and the operating system.  The bundle provides you with upgrades as long as you remain an undergraduate at Virginia Tech.

The Undergraduate Software Bundle is available only through the Virginia Tech Software Service Center located at 3240 Torgersen Hall. For more information see the Student Software Bundle FAQs or contact Student Software Sales at or 540-231-3969.

  • The Student Software Bundles page has information on the Undergraduate Software Bundle and major-specific bundles.
  • The Student Required Products page contains a listing of the software that you are required to buy as well as software that you've previously purchased and software that you are eligible to purchase.
  • The Network Software Server provides a listing of software purchases by individual student as well as software currently available for download by students.
